TEAM Buzz—it's not too late to participate

It may be too late to get a free T-shirt, but you can still register to participate in the TEAM Buzz Community Service Day.

The event's service projects begin tomorrow at 9 a.m. Late registration is from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. in front of the Student Center; coffee and bagels with be served. From noon to 2 p.m., a celebration party will be held at Peters Parking Deck.

TEAM Buzz is not the first effort by Tech to organize volunteer projects on a large scale. As home of the 1996 Olympic Village, Tech played a major role in organizing volunteer efforts both before and during the Games. In addition, Tech students and alumni participate in numerous community service projects throughout the year.

TEAM Buzz organizers see this Community Service Day as a way to mobilize this volunteer spirit under a single organization.

"An Institute-wide Community Service Day is an exciting concept and a very momentous event for Georgia Tech. We hope it will encourage those who are participating who have never volunteered their services before to do more throughout the year," said Tony Chan, the TEAM Buzz Chair.

According to Chan, TEAM Buzz will be an annual event that they hope will in future include Tech alumni chapters all over the country. "We want to eventually coordinate with the alumni clubs so that they can go out in their communities around the country and volunteer on the same day as TEAM Buzz Day here," Chan said.
