Cool stuff from Sweden?

****: North Of No South Records (NONS) releases an album by various artists from Sweden called NONSCD50

As far as compilations go, NONSCD50, the latest release from North Of South Records, is a beast! With twenty four killer tracks of twelve crazy bands that you never probably heard of, it makes you wonder why the only band that has made any Swedish- bred noise on our shores is the Cardigans! If this cd is any indication, there is some real indie talent over there searching for an eager, open-minded market.

NONSCD50 has a little something for everybody. There is the raging punk from the guitar driven Fivel, the indie-pop grumblings of the Carpet People, the modern folk of Trio Lligo, the flute laced classical/Caribbean/far east pop of Contrappunto, the insane experiments of Doktor Kosmos, and the slightly Gary Numan (circa Tubeway Army) reminiscent electric dittys of Pinko Pinko. I think the only song I didn't much care for on the whole album was the idiotic Ray Wonder crooning about the 'General Hugging Center!' If you are worried about the language barrier, DON'T! There is no reason to...90 percent of this disk is in English and the other 10 percent sounds cool enough that it doesn't matter what they are talking about!

I can't even explain how impressed I was with this compilation! I mean, Sweden...who would have thought? Anyway, it's time too put away that Cardigans cd and find out what the Swedes are really capable of. You can get in touch with NONS records on e-mail at nons.usa@nons.se and they can direct you on how to get this CD or anything else in their catalog.
