Crew team captures 12 medals on the 'Hooch

The Georgia Tech crew team kicked off the fall season on October 11 at the Chattanooga Head Race. Along with the team, coaches also raced, bringing the medal count to 12.

The varsity men took third in the open 2- and light 4+, second in the open 4+, and first in the open 8+. Coach Rob Canavan took first in the open 2- with his pairs partner. The novice men took first in the 4+ and 8+, and sculler Josh Vose also came in first in the 1x.

The varsity women placed third in the light 4+ and first in the open 2-. Coach Niko DeMartini took second in the men's open 1x. The novice women placed second in the 4+.

The rowers have been on the water since the start of the quarter and are expected to field an amazing 75 rowers, including the first-year rowers currently in training. The Head of the Chattahoochee competition, co-run by the Georgia Tech Crew and the Atlanta Rowing Club, is the team's biggest race. It will be held on November 1 in Roswell.
