The college football guru reveals the future
ATLANTA
November 13, 1998
Last night's Tech-Clemson football game took place too late to make this week's Technique. However, we can't have a football-less paper, so the Nique's college football guru has decided to impart his wisdom on us and let us know what will happen to the top college football teams in the nation by the end of the season.
1. Tennessee
The Volunteers will defeat Arkansas tomorrow, win their next two and then beat Arkansas again in the SEC Championship, securing a Fiesta Bowl berth at 12-0.
2. Kansas St.
The Wildcats will beat Nebraska tommorrow for the first time since 1968. However, they will lose to either Missouri the next week or Texas A&M in the Big 12 Championship Game, costing them a Fiesta Bowl berh.
3. UCLA
The Bruins stand a good chance of losing tommorrow's game at Washington. If the Huskies can't get the job done, either USC or Miami will. The guru is not sure who will beat UCLA, but he is positive that one of those three teams will.
4. Florida/ 5. Florida St.
Both these teams will destroy their respective conference opponents tommorrow setting up next week's showdown in Talahassee. Stakes are high, as the winner will get a Fiesta Bowl berth, and it could go either way. However, the guru feels that Chris Weinke's injury combined with Florida's swarming defense and the improvement of Doug Johnson will give the Gators their third consecutive win in this series.
7. Ohio St.
Having seen their national championship dreams go up in flames last week, the Buckeyes won't have as much fire in them and will lose to Michigan again.
How will it all end? Florida over Tennessee in the Fiesta Bowl.
