On June 21, 1999, students from Georgia Tech will arrive in the picturesque city of Metz, France to begin what some might consider an ordinary quarter in a unique and extraordinary place.
The summer Study Abroad program at Georgia Tech Lorraine will present these individuals with a rare opportunity to pursue their studies as they would in Atlanta, with the added benefit of being immersed in a culture very different from the one they are accustomed to here.
Located in the Technopole Metz 2000, a technology park which houses research facilities, hi-tech firms, and several educational institutions, the Lorraine campus also stands in a beautiful historic city which is home to several ancient cathedrals, public buildings, and monuments.
During their sojourn at GT Lorraine, the students will be able to take classes in international affairs, mechanical engineering, management, and electrical engineering. Classes will meet four days a week, commencing on Tuesday and adjourning Friday, so that weekends will be open for recreation.
Alec Dutcher and Monica Franz, senior ME students, recount their experiences of Lorraine from this past summer.

During the quarter, Alec, Monica, and several Georgia Tech students visited Amsterdam, Paris, Brussels, Munich,
