TEAM Buzz
Congratulations to the organizers of last weekend's TEAMBuzz community services day. The day was certainly one to remember as an impressive 1,400 volunteers showed up to help. Shame on those who registered to help out but failed to show because of a little rain. Fortunately, TEAM Buzz's skillful organizers and dedicated participants managed to persevere despite the inclement weather and the hundreds of AWOL volunteers. Keep up the good work.
Football Fever
Good luck to our Yellow Jacket football team as they take on ACC rival Wake Forest. Tech's Saturday showdown with the Deacs will be the last game of the season at good ol' Bobby Dodd Stadium. With the eminent win over the pitiful Deacs, the Jackets will clinch a share of the 1998 Atlantic Coast Conference title with the Florida State Seminoles.
Our glorious 1990 National Championship season was the only other time in Tech history that the football team captured the coveted ACC crown.
Food Service?
The appallingly poor food service that students and staff are subjected to on a daily basis in the Georgia Tech Student Center is offensive and unacceptable. Embarrassment abounds when Georgia Tech's mecca of student activity cannot supply food service at least equal to that supplied in the facilities of Kennesaw State or Valdosta State.
Deficiencies too numerous to list exist in the Student Center's food facilities. The Technique Editorial Board, however, has summarized a few of the glaring, broad problems that occur every day:
€
Lack of cleanliness. The difficulty in finding a clean table in the dining room has become an unacceptable problem.
€
Lack of choice. Who eats at Burger King?
€
Lack of preparation. Let's do the complicated math: If students start filtering into the dining area at 12:00 p.m. for lunch, what time should we start preparing those troublesome chicken sandwiches?
€
Lack of caring. The food service employees in the Student Center are too apathetic too much of the time. It's about customer service.
Perhaps the management of Student Center food services should take a serious look at what Tommy is doing right over at Junior's. Is there no love for mozzarella sticks anymore?
Consensus editorials reflect the majority opinion of the Editorial Board of The Technique, but not necessarily the opinions of individual editors.
