Executive officers David Peters, Caroline Clower, and David White conduct last Tuesday's meeting of the Graduate Student Senate. Meetings are on Tuesdays at 11 a.m. in Room 117 of the Student Services Building.

Last Tuesday's Graduate Student Senate meeting covered few topics but generated a lot of discussion. Initially, a few reports were given about the Parking and Transportation committee as well as other things of concern. Graduates who have questions or concerns about the Parking and Transportation committee and what they are doing can contact Dan Basso.
The first bill on the docket approved money for new computers for the SGA office. One of the computers is to be used by the assistant to both USC and GSS, and the Senate felt it was very necessary. The other computer is to provide a personal computer for use in the SGA office.
The next bill was for money to bring Ani DiFranco to campus for a concert during Women's Awareness Week in April. The co-ordinators were unable to get DiFranco for last year's concert and were hoping to get her for this year's event. The bill stirred up much discussion.
Ultimately, GSS failed the bill over concerns about the amount of fundraising the coordinators of Women's Awareness Week had attempted before coming to SGA, the total amount of money that goes to concerts each year, and the timing of the bill.
GSS decided that the student activity money they have to distribute should be used as a last resort only after all attempts to raise the money have been tried.
The final bill considered approved Dana Johnson as a graduate appointment to the Joint Finance Committee.
