Saturday, October 3 - Hands On Atlanta needs volunteers to participate in its annual Hands On Atlanta Day, the largest fund-raising volunteer Serve-A-Thon in the United States. At the end of the day, participants will gather in Centennial Olympic Park for a post-service celebration including food, beverages, live celebrity entertainment, and prizes. Anyone interested in participating can register via the web www.handsonatl.org.

Ongoing - Volunteers are needed to serve as tour guides, gift shop assistants, and administrative assistants at the Atlanta International Museum. For more information, contact Jane Arthur, Volunteer Coordinator at 404-688-2467, ext 5.

Ongoing - Volunteers are needed to serve as docents for the Atlanta International Museum's upcoming exhibit, Art of the Ndebele: Evolution of a Cultural Identity. Docents will need to attend a training class. Please call Jane Arthur, Volunteer Coordinator at 404-688-2467, ext. 5 for reservations for classes and directions to the museum.

Ongoing - Volunteers are needed at the Techwood branch of the Atlanta-Fulton County Public Library for "Homework Help", working with children and adult education. Commitment is flexible but generally needed two hours a week, Monday-Thursday afternoons. The library is within walking distance from campus.

Ongoing - Volunteers are needed at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens to help staff the visitor booth, museum shop, and plant hotline; assist at special events; and help educational instructors. Comittment depends on assignment.

Ongoing - Volunteers are needed at SciTrek: The Science and Technology Museum of Atlanta to perform science demonstrations and explain exhibits to visitors, instruct and assist with workshops, engage in outreach and public relations functions, and participate in research and education. Commitment is flexible. Sci Trek is located near the Civic Center.

Ongoing - Volunteers are needed at Zoo Atlanta to meet and greet guests, assist with games and events. Volunteers are asked to work 4-hour shifts, either 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. or 1:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m. any day of the week. The zoo is located in Grant Park.

Ongoing - Volunteers are needed weekdays, 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at Cafe 458 to help prepare lunch and act as waiters serving food to the homeless. The Cafe is located next to the Martin Luther King Jr. Museum.
