Ticket Committee finalizes improved distribution plan

Yellow Jacket fans won't have to rely on a point system to show their spirit this year. With the new policy, they can wait in lines, like old times.

There are several major changes in the new distribution system. First, the entire points system has been scrapped. Students will no longer be required to attend women's basketball games in order to obtain priority seating.
Also, all distribution will take place at the new Athletic Association ticket office, which is located between the Edge Center and McDonald's. The Ferst Theater will no longer be used. This change was made so that AA employees can handle the distribution.
The schedule has also been standardized so that distribution will take place at the same times throughout the season. Student tickets will be distributed every Monday and Tuesday preceding a game. For example, if there are home games Wednesday and Saturday in a given week, students will be able to pick up tickets for both games on either day. Exactly half of the student allotment will be available each day from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Students interested in the best seats may line up the night before a distribution (Sunday and Monday nights). The first 70 students in line at 10 p.m. will be given a number that reserves a ticket for the next day. Students may pick up their reserved ticket anytime during the next day.
If there are any unclaimed tickets after a distribution period has ended, students may walk up to the gate on game day. A Web page will allow students see how many tickets are still available on game day.
The new system also allows co-op students to get a ticket without coming in person. Co-op students must first pay their athletic fee and get a sticker from the Bursar's Office. Then, another student can pick up a ticket by showing the co-op's Buzz Card. However, this method cannot be used for a reserved ticket the night before a distribution date.
The Student Ticket Committee also plans to set up a Web page that will provide up-to-date information.
