How can you get tickets to Tech sporting events?

By Simit Shah
Fearing another October collapse

For the majority of sports like baseball, tennis, and volleyball, all you need to do is show up at the gate and show your Buzz Card. (The Buzz Card is now the official ID of Georgia Tech, so admission will be denied if you have an older ID.) The only sports where this policy does not apply are football and basketball.
For the first time ever, major steps are being taken by the Student Ticket Committee to heavily publicize student ticketing. The committee maintains a web page at cyberbuzz.gatech.edu/tickets that allows students access to policies for football and basketball, as well as the latest news about events. Students can also email questions to tickets@cyberbuzz.gatech.edu. Additionally, The Technique will feature the "Ticket Buzz" every week to inform students about events and news.
This quarter there are four home football games left. For the Duke game on October 3, you can show up at one of the four student gates (5, 7, 8, and 9) for admission. You may also bring a guest for free. For the next two games (Virginia and FSU), you must pick up your tickets in advance during the week of October 5. Tickets will be distributed at the street level ticket windows between the Edge Center and McDonald's.
For the final home game on November 21, students may walk up to the gate for admission. If you wish to bring a guest for any of the final three games, date passes are available through the ticket office (894-5447). Tickets for road games may also be obtained through the ticket office.
The policy for men's basketball games has been overhauled this season in response to complaints about the previous policy. The major change involves the time and place of distribution. All distribution will now be located at the Athletic Association ticket office. Tickets will be given out every Monday and Tuesday during the season during regular business hours.
The complete policy is available on the ticket committee web page, and there will be considerable publicity as the season approaches. Stay tuned for more information and support Tech sports.
