Patrollers robbed outside GTPD

Two members of the student safety patrol were robbed at gunpoint early Saturday morning next to the Beringause Georgia Tech Police Department Building in a frightening twist of irony that resulted in a car chase. The robbers were arrested and charged with armed robbery.

OIT tells it like it is

The Office of Information Technology has laid out its plans for the near future in an effort to clear up student confusion (see story, page 1). Not all of the dial-in lines will go out of service, although 32 were retired in early February and 32 more will go down during the summer. OIT's plan is to discontinue the older, slower lines in order to give more funds to campus network support.

Tau Beta Pi inducts new members

On Thursday, April 17, the Georgia Alpha Chapter of the Tau Beta Pi Association inducted its newest members. The Tau Beta Pi Association is the national engineering honor society. Founded in 1885 at Lehigh University, Tau Beta Pi is the nation's second-oldest honor society, and is the only one devoted to recognizing exemplary members of the various engineering disciplines.

Roxy survives Big Head Todd

Big Head Todd and the Monsters were compared by one source on the Web to Hootie and the Blowfish. When I read that, I panicked. The thing was that they were right, and they were wrong. If you've never heard Big Head Todd and the Monsters, they won't impress you right away. But, it's their simplicity that is so appealing. Their music has been described by sources as, "Nothing jumps out and grabs you," but that seems to be their style.

Jackets hang on to slim lead in ACC

Despite losing two of the three games that were played on the road last week, the Yellow Jackets have managed to hold on to their first-place spot in the ACC with just six conference games remaining. The Jackets pushed their ACC record to 13-4 by splitting two games with Clemson over the weekend, while a loss to the University (sic) of Georgia on Tuesday left them with an overall record of 36-10.
