the best water polo teams in the southeast. Teams from Florida State, Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee, Emory and more will be competing against the Yellow Jackets in the Southern Collegiate Conference Gold Championships. The Championships for will be held here in Atlanta for the first time with all competition taking place in the Tech Aquatic Center.
Georgia Tech is looking to regain the status of 1993 when they
last won the championship. "Our team is strong headed into this weekend's Championships, and with a home-pool advantage, no one can count us out," commented Eric Demirjian, the team captain.
The water polo team competes year round. But the Jackets feel that this is their time. With a 20-man roster headed into this weekend, the expectations are high.
"Water polo is a game of fast breaks, fast pace, and brutal combat, placed in the serenity of the pool. It really brings out the competitor inside you," continued Demirjian.
Games will take place on both Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Six men's and six women's teams competing for bragging rights in the Southeast. For more information contact gt7454c.
