The softball team, at 22-26, hosts the Georgia Bulldogs next week. The team has recently won five of six.

The Georgia Tech softball team dug themselves out of their eight-game losing slump with a win over Georgia Southern on April 8, and the Jackets have continued to redeem themselves. This past week the Jackets recorded wins over Samford, Virginia, and Furman.
The Jackets took on Samford in a doubleheader April 9 and recorded one win and one loss. Erin Ryan pitched the first game for the Jackets, allowing six hits, one walk and one run. The Jackets won, 2-1, with Jennifer Biggers and Ellen Styer scoring. The second game, a 5-4 loss, was thrown by Carey Schiller and Beth Warren. In the four innings pitched by Schiller, she allowed five hits and two runs. Warren allowed five hits and three runs in two innings. Scoring runs for the Jackets were Lauren Schwartz, Jeanette Grey, and Lauren Webb with two.
The Jackets finally picked up ACC wins with victories over Virginia in a doubleheader on April 11. The wins brought their record to 20-26. Ryan pitched the first game, allowing nine hits and only three runs. The Jackets' five runs came from Schwartz, Webb, Styer, Heather Sumrow, and Susanne Miller.
The Jackets also won their second game, 2-0, with runs scored by Schwartz and Sumrow. Schiller tossed the shutout, giving up five hits, and brought her record to 7-7 for the year.
On Wednesday, Tech added two more wins with a sweep over Furman. The Jackets won game one, 3-0, with the shutout hurled by Ryan (11-14). Tech managed two unearned runs in the contest.
In game two, Jennifer Grey homered and Warren (4-5) pitched her way to the 4-3 win. Schiller saved the game in the seventh, getting out of a bases-loaded situation.
The Yellow Jackets ran their record to 22-26 on the season. The team heads to Troy State and Alabama for doubleheaders before hosting Georgia on Tuesday at Glenn Field. The ACC Tournament is next weekend, hosted by Florida State at Tallahassee.
