Ramblins' man favors tradition
To the Editor:
My comments concerning the Diversity Task Force's recommendation for change to the "Ramblin' Wreck from Georgia Tech" fight song were not accurately reported.
I have been an outspoken supporter of Tech's proud history and traditions and I have contributed a weekly article on that subject to The Technique for nearly three years now, and I am distressed that my name has been associated with the proponents of the change.
I spent several minutes with the gentleman who wrote the article, and we discussed both sides of the argument, looking at positive aspects of each side of the issue and at places where there might be compromises and solutions.
[The Technique] article reflected only the positive statements I made regarding the proposal, and not my overall opinion, which is against the change.
Further, the article made mention of my membership in the Ramblin' Reck Club, and thereby implied my comments may have been those of the Club. They were not.
