Clinton deserves credit for budget success

To the Editor:
What took a Democratic President and a Democratic Congress two years to do took a Republican Congress and Democratic President four years—that is, to reduce the deficit by about 150 billion dollars. But thanks to President Clinton's leadership, after 6 years the deficit may finally be reduced from about 300 billion to 0 dollars. Fortunately during the 4 years of a Republican Congress, Clinton was able sign budgets that he mostly engineered—all Republicans did was to slow down progress. So when are Republicans going to stop making excuses for 12 years of a failed Reagan-Bush policy and admit that Clinton and the Democrats deserve full credit?
